People & Place- Exercise 16- Exploring Function

For this exercise, we had to look at a space and think about its intended use, if the design/layout accomodates this successfully and then be able to translate this into images.

I chose to use my conservatory for this as it has multiple uses. Before photographing, we had to note what we think the space ought to be doing. When we first moved into the house, we decided it would be a play area and there would be an area for adults to sit and relax. We also wanted to have a small area for toys to be kept when not in use.

Adult Area

I think this area works well as it has a clear purpose and looks inviting.

Children’s/Storage Area

Although it works well as a children’s area it isn’t as inviting as the adults area. With the storage areas there seems to be a bit of a blur between the play area and the storage area as there is a mixture in both areas.
