Understanding Visual Culture- Exercise 21- Images of Women

This exercise was split into 2 parts.

The first task was to construct a visual essay using only newspapers and magazines as our source. The first essay had to show the visualisation of women today and the second showing the opposing view.

The second task was to make a collection of images of nakedness and the nude, annotating them to show which one they represent and why.

Task 1

I decided to complete one essay looking from a male perspective and the second from a women’s perspective

Task 2

Firstly I will define nude and nakedness

Nude- To be without clothes or bare in a setting that the subject feels safe and comfortable in. They are also not being represented in a sexually accessible manner

Nakedness- To be without clothes ina  setting that the subject would be embarrassed, left feeling exposed or be presented in a sexual manner.
