Photographer of the week- Demond Meek

For this weeks photographer of the week I chose a photographer who has created a series of photos of derelict and deserted buildings as this is something I am interested in doing for my first assignment.

I quickly came across an article from the Daily Mail about Demond Meek and his series Slum Beautiful and a really liked the images. I found them so beautiful and moving.

The idea behind the images was to highlight St Louis’ declining population and industry and focus on the once beautiful buildings which have just been left to deteriorate over the years. The one thing that really surprised me was that all the images had been taken with an iPhone which were then edited and posted onto Instagram.
